- You must use FTP client software like Fetch (Macintosh) or WS_FTP (Windows). These shareware programs require you to purchase them if you continue to use them. Fetch can be downloaded from www.fetchsoftworks.com and WS_FTP can be downloaded from www.ipswitch.com.
- Please compress your files into an archive.
- Macintosh Systems:
Use Stuffit Deluxe to create a file archive and then encode it with BinHex. Or, using the built-in Macintosh OS X zip archive make a zip file (Put your files in a folder and give that folder a short but meaningful name. CTRL-Click that folder and choose Create Archive of... from the context-sensitive
menu. This will generate an OS X zip archive. Note: zip files sometimes destroy the usability of fonts.)
- Windows Systems:
Make a zip archive (WinZip is an excellent shareware program for this).
- Filenames should be no longer than 32 characters (less is preferable). Do not use / or \ or other non-alphanumeric characters in filenames.
- Start your FTP client and login with the following specs (case & punctuation sensitive - enter exactly as shown):
Host: ftp.rrd.com
User ID: 20-bruceprepress-ac
Password: bruce,070221
- Open the In folder. Upload your files to this folder.
- Call your CSR or Salesperson to tell them that the files have been transferred. They need to know the name of the file archive.
- Start your FTP client and login with the following specs (case sensitive - enter exactly as shown):
Host: ftp.rrd.com
User ID: 20-bruceprepress-ac
Password: bruce,070221
- Open the Out folder. Locate and download the file from this folder. (Note: files older than 14 days automatically removed from the Out folder every Monday at 3 AM.)
Login errors? Passwords are case-sensitive. Make sure the CAPS LOCK key is not down and try again.
Connect errors? Check with your IT department. A firewall may be preventing you from accessing an FTP site.
Slow upload/download times? Bruce Offset FTP server is on a T1 connection. But, internet traffic can reduce the speed of file transfers. Also, your own network can slow transmissions.
